All of us are aware of what shoes are, some call them footwear, sports shoes, sneakers etc, for most of them the shoes are just daily footwear that we wear for various factors, be it be comfort, style or just our personal preference, but the shoes have changed our lives so drastically that it’s not just about wearing them anymore, its about a statement, fashion statement, and in the past few years, the sneaker community have grown so much that we have a number of influencers and various artists who have changed the sneaker game once in for all, like Kanye West, he collaborated with Adidas and designed the Yeezy boost line up which was a total hit, and created hype in the sneaker community, the yeezy boost were created in limited numbers , which eventually skyrocket-ed the resale value into hundreds of dollars, and not just Kanye West, artists like The Weeknd, Rihanna, collaborated with various brands like Puma, and created some real good shoes. One of the most successful collaborations is by the designer, Virgil Abloh, by his fashion brand that is Off-white, he collaborated with many big brands such as Nike and their most valuable shoe is the off-white Air Jordan 1, which easily resale at around a thousand dollars and not easily accessible since its very limited, and as the shoes have become rarer and expensive, this led to eventually people being collecting shoes, throughout the world, including India, there are several collectors, there are many celebrities you might be aware of , like DJ Khaled, Eminem, who’ve great collection of sneakers which are not only rare or expensive but also have a story behind, like the Nike Air Mag, featured in ‘Back to the future’ movie.
The sneaker culture eventually led to sneaker businesses, like sneaker boutiques, there’s plenty in the world like Nytentsale, Stadium goods etc, and recently, we have one sneaker boutique chain here in India that is Vegnonveg, they literally launch every hyped sneakers on their website and in their stores, currently located in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore, There are even some sneakers that are exclusively launched at Vegnonveg, like Air Jordan 4 ‘what the’ that is launching tomorrow in their stores exclusively.
The sneaker culture in India have grown quite big now with Bollywood stars being caught wearing most hyped shoes like Ranbir Kapoor, Ranvijay etc, and there are plenty of sneakerheads too like Aditya Bhalla (@adityab27), who literally copes every AJ1 x Off-white and Travis Scott x Nike, based in Delhi, and he also got his sneakers featured in Vegnonveg store in a sneaker meet in Delhi. That’s not all, the sneaker culture is growing day by day in India and the availability of the shoes is a strong factor, and the influencers also play an important role in the growth of the sneaker culture.
Now various technologies have taken place in manufacturing of sneakers, a great example is Adidas futurecraft 4D, the sneaker having a 3D printed midsole made with the help of this company named CARBON, the shoe itself is very comfortable and functional at the same time.
