Finally, Nirbhaya is getting justice. As we are heading towards 2020, the most awaited news hit on our screens. Supreme Court upheld the death penalty for the rapists. Finally, the day is approaching when all the four accused of Nirbhaya’s rape case will be hanged till death in the early morning of 16th December 2019.
Still today it gives me chills when I recall the most horrible and terrible incident of Delhi. The country was ashamed and it was the most brutal crime that ever took place. The government’s recommendation rejecting the mercy plea of Vinay Sharma, one of the convicts in the 2012 Delhi Bangor rape case.
Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal sent the file rejecting the mercy plea to the Home Ministry earlier this week. The file has now been forwarded to the President for his final decision. An unnamed official quoted by PTI said the Home Ministry had commented in the file. Meanwhile, President Kovind has said rape convicts under the POCSO Act shouldn’t have the right to file mercy petitions.
According to the reports finally, it’s confirmed that all the accused are getting the punishment for there worst deeds by hanging them on 16th December.
The plea was sent by Tihar jail authorities with a ‘malafide intention’ and without his consent, says Vinay Sharma, one of the convicts.
Vinay Sharma, one of the four convicts in the 2012 Nirbhaya gangrape and murder case, on Saturday sought immediate withdrawal of his mercy plea from President Ram Nath Kovind, saying it was sent without his consent. A Delhi court had recently directed Tihar Jail authorities to produce the four convicts before it on December 13 so that they can appraise justice about the status of their petitions.
In December last year, Nirbhaya’s parents had approached the court to fast-track the procedure to hang all four convicts in the case. The Supreme Court on December 12, 2018, had dismissed a PIL seeking direction to the Centre to execute the death penalty awarded to the four convicts — Mukesh, Pawan, Vinay, and Akshay — in the Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case.
Well! It’s time to yell justice as the daughter of our nation is getting on 16th December 2019.
