On Friday morning, the country woke up to the news of the new improvement in the rape and murder case of a veterinary doctor in Chatanpally near Hyderabad in Telangana. The impeached, imprisoned on November 29, was remanded to judicial custody and housed in high-security cells at Cherlapally Central Prison. They were charged under IPC Sections 302 (murder), 375 (rape) and 362 (abduction).
After national outrage, the Telangana government had set up a fast track court to try the accused.
According to the report, the accused were taken to the scene of the crime to recreate the sequence of events when they allegedly tried to escape. Two policemen were injured in the incident, the report said.
The accused were shot dead in the same place where Disha’s (name changed) body was found burnt after she was allegedly raped and killed.
They had been taken to the scene of the crime at Chatanpally, located nearly 50 km from Hyderabad, on Thursday to collect evidence. The reports of the alleged encounter surfaced on Friday morning. Additional DG (law and order) Jitender told The News Minutethat the incident happened after 6 am on Friday.
